is a vocal ensemble engaged in the preservation and transmission of the musical heritage of Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean, through concerts, original scholarship, and recordings. In 2016, Psaltikon released its first recording, Day of Resurrection, including the first-ever recording of the medieval Paschal Canon attributed to St. John of Damascus (c. 8th c.). In 2023, Psaltikon commissioned Kyriakos Kalaïtzidis to compose the work recorded here, based on Alexandros Papadiamantis’ beloved novella, To Christ at the Castle.
