Alexander Lingas and the musicological supporters of Cappella Romana have put together…a compilation of the wider repertoires of the Byzantine and English groups, placed in liturgical context. The result is an amazing musical smorgasbord. The two traditions inhabit very different sound worlds, and the Portland-based Cappella Romana performs a remarkable feat in achieving idiomatic-sounding portrayals of both.
